TranscribeCat turns audio and video into editable transcripts. Pay $2.00 per hour, with a $2.00 minimum per file. No subscription.

What it does

Upload a recording, review the quote and pay. When the transcript is ready, listen alongside the text and save corrections. Download TXT, SRT, VTT or DOCX; PDF is available when its font supports the transcript.

Use automatic language detection or choose the spoken language. The rate is the same for every supported language. A 15-minute file and a 55-minute file both cost $2.00. Check the language list for coverage and limitations.

How it works

Automatic speech recognition turns the recording into text and groups speech by voice where available. Review names, numbers and quotations against the audio; accuracy and speaker labels vary by language and recording.

Audio is retained 90 days from your last sign-in by default. You can choose a shorter period on each upload, and that choice becomes your default for the next one.

Paying for occasional recordings

Paying per file suits people who need a transcript occasionally and want to see the full price before committing. A free allowance or subscription elsewhere may cost less if you have many short files or a large volume of recordings.

Who makes it

TranscribeCat is built by Klarweb, a small software studio in Oslo, Norway. The main developer is Axel Jørgensen.

Privacy

You choose how long audio is kept — from instant deletion to 90 days, which is also the default. We do not use recordings to train AI models and we do not sell your data. Only the text transcript is kept in your account by default, and you can delete it at any time.

Analytics is PostHog, hosted in the EU. Browser analytics loads only if you accept the cookie banner. Server-side upload and payment events still record those service steps. See the privacy policy for full details.

If a transcription fails

Payment places a hold on your card. We capture it when the transcript is ready. If transcription fails, we cancel the hold; your bank determines when the pending amount disappears.
